Postal volunteers from the Portland area will be sending replies to letters addressed to Santa collected over the holiday season from around the state of Maine

Background:

Throughout the holiday season letters found in mail collection boxes around Maine addressed to Santa are directed to the Portland Post Office. There, volunteers from the Northern New England District address and send out personal replies from the jolly old elf.
December 17 will be the last push to respond to this year’s letters and we’d like to invite the media in to offer their customers an inside look at Santa’s mailroom.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
