USPS to Suspend Mail Delivery throughout the State of Michigan

No mail Delivery Wednesday and Thursday January 30-31

GRAND RAPIDS MI — Due to the extreme weather conditions caused by Winter Storm Jayden, the U.S. Postal Service has temporarily suspended delivery, collections and pick up services throughout the State of Michigan on Wednesday and Thursday, January 30-31, 2019, to ensure the safety and well-being of our employees.  Specific information about the areas affected is being posted to the USPS Service Alerts page: http://about.usps.com/newsroom/service-alerts/

Currently many Retail operations will remain open with some will be operating under a reduced hour’s schedule or early close schedule most at 5:00 p.m. Where retail is open, customers can pick up Express, prescriptions, etc. at the retail windows.

“The safety and well-being of our employees is of paramount concern to the Postal Service,” said District Manager Krista Finazzo, Greater Michigan District. “We apologize for any inconvenience this weather related service disruption has caused.”

“Snow and ice make delivery dangerous and slow,” said added Finazzo.  “We are asking our customers to maintain a clear path to the mail box – including steps, porches, walkways and street approach.  This helps our letter carriers maintain consistent delivery service not only now but throughout the winter season.

Customers can call 1-800-ASK-USPS (1-800-275-8777) to obtain information, including available, alternate Post Office retail locations, or check the Postal Service website: www.usps.com. The Post Office is always open at www.usps.com.  The Postal Service’s smartphone app makes it even quicker to use the most popular functions on usps.com, anytime and anywhere.

For more information about the areas impacted by this temporary suspension of service, please visit our website at: USPS Service Alerts.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
