KALAMAZOO MI — The Nazareth Post Office opened for business in their new location Monday November 4, 2019 after moving from their previous location in the old Nazareth Motherhouse college which closed.  

Until their move, the Nazareth Post Office had the unique history of being the only post office located inside a convent since 1899.  Additionally nuns (Sisters of St. Joseph) were the postmasters up until 1992 when an actual postal employee became postmaster. 

The new post office location is now at 5073 Gull Rd., Kalamazoo MI 49048 and is still called the Nazareth Post Office

Postmaster Terri Sootsman says of the move “we are happy with our new location and ready to serve our customers with the mailing services they need”.  Sootsman also says, “We will have a grand opening at a later date”.   

Also because of the uniqueness of their name ‘Nazareth’, they will be having a special Christmas cancellation the whole month of December. 

A mailing was recently sent to inform customers of the new location and the special cancellation.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
