Postal Service Provides Rare Tour of Holiday Package Processing at the Detroit National Distribution Center

What:

The Detroit National Distribution Center (NDC) in Allen Park, MI will handle millions of packages this holiday season. We are opening up our parcel sorting operation to the media for one day only.

We will show customers what happens behind the scenes when their packages leave the post office. It’s industrial, but there are some really great visuals of high-tech package processing, large chutes of parcels, and employees sorting parcels manually.

RSVP:

Please RSVP by December 11, 2019 to USPS Strategic Communications Specialist Elizabeth Najduch at elizabeth.najduch@usps.gov or (313) 225-5452.

When:

Thursday, December 12, 2019, From 12:00 noon to 2:00 P.M.

Where:

Detroit National Distribution Center (NDC)
17500 Oakwood Blvd
Allen Park, MI 48101

Who:

The Plant Manager will conduct the tour and talk about the equipment, transportation, package shipping tips, deadlines, and ways to help customers save money and time.

ENTRY:

Please ring the buzzer to enter through the security gates at the employee parking lot. An employee will allow entrance through the security gates.

SAFETY:

Tour may consist of walking on grated catwalk and climbing stairs. Please wear appropriate shoes.

INFO:
