USPS Holiday Service Schedule

The Postal Service will be operating under normal conditions on December 24th and December 31st

MICHIGAN — Wednesday, December 24 (Christmas Eve)

  • Local Post Office locations will be open. Remember to check your local Post Office for specific hours.
  • Blue Collection Boxes: Mail will be picked up by the scheduled collection times on the box. If the collection time has passed, find a Post Office location that may be open late.
  • Regular mail will be delivered.
  • Priority Mail Express® mail will be delivered1, 2.

Christmas Day (Thursday, Dec. 25, 2025)

  • Post Office locations nationwide will be closed
  • Blue Collection Boxes: Mail will not be picked up.
  • Regular mail will not be delivered.
  • Priority Mail Express® mail will be delivered1, 2.

All Post Office locations will be open, and regular mail delivery will resume, on Friday, Dec. 26, 2025.

Wednesday, December 31 (New Year’s Eve)

  • Local Post Office locations will be open. Remember to check your local Post Office for specific hours.
  • Blue Collection Boxes: Mail will be picked up by the scheduled collection times on the box. If the collection time has passed, find a Post Office location that may be open late.
  • Regular mail will be delivered.
  • Priority Mail Express mail will be delivered2, 3.

Thursday, January 1 (New Year’s Day)

  • Local Post Office locations will be closed.
  • Blue Collection Boxes: Mail will not be picked up.
  • Regular mail will not be delivered.
  • Priority Mail Express mail will be delivered2, 3.

All Post Office locations will be open, and regular mail delivery will resume, on Friday, Jan. 2, 2026

Sunday delivery has been expanded in select locations that experience high package volumes — the Postal Service already delivers packages on Sundays in most major cities, and it continues to offer the lowest postage rates in the industrialized world.

Mail carriers will also deliver Priority Mail Express packages for an additional fee on Christmas Day in select locations.
