COURTLAND, MN – The U.S. Postal Service has selected a potential new site for the Courtland, MN, Post Office. A compact building of approximately 500 square feet will be placed on vacant land next to Swany’s Pub located at 213 Main St. If this location is not adequate or an agreement cannot be reached with the owner, the Postal Service will consider other sites.
The move became necessary due to environmental and safety issues causing the Postal Service to vacate the current facility and terminate its lease. At that time, retail services were moved to the New Ulm, MN, Post Office.
The move is estimated to be complete and the Courtland Post Office re-opened in early Summer, 2019.
The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
