What:
The U.S. Postal Service is mailing a postcard to the St. Michael MN addresses, announcing a proposed relocation of the Post Office located at 405 Central Ave E STE 101, Saint Michael MN 55376-9503. The postcard provides information about the public comment period.

Background:
Due to space deficiency of the current Post Office, the Postal Service is now looking for a new retail location within three miles from the current location. The Postal Service will be looking for one of the following: a) lease an existing building of about 8,000 SF with 41+ parking space for both carriers and retail, b) lease an existing building of about 6,500 SF with 31+ parking space for carriers and keep the retail in its current location, c) Purchase land of about 62,000 SF to 80,000 for a new building for either a carrier facility or 1 for 1 facility, d) lease land of about 12,500 SF to place a modular building for retail, e) lease an existing building that is about 1,000 SF with 10+ parking spaces or f) expand in the current post office to accommodate 8,000 SF with 41+ parks.
The relocation project will consist of procuring a suitable substitute location, as close as reasonably possible to the existing location. Retail Services will continue at the current Post Office until all necessary preparations are completed at the new location.

The Postal Service generally receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products, and services to fund its operations.
