Cindy Foxx Heads Gardiner, Montana Post Office

Manages USPS Services for the Gardiner Community

Cindy Foxx

Cindy Foxx is the new Postmaster at the Gardiner Post Office, and the 28th person to hold the position since the Gardiner Post Office was established 144 years ago.

Foxx joined the Postal Service as a carrier in North Carolina in 2008. Throughout her nearly 20 year career she has also been a carrier in Florida, a supervisor of customer service and an officer in charge (OIC) in Wyoming, as well as a postmaster in Vermont.

While she is looking forward to her new position in Gardiner, Foxx says her most rewarding position to date was as the OIC in Jackson, Wyoming, “This position was most rewarding because mentoring the next generation of managers is incredibly important to me”

In her new role Foxx is excited to continue to guide employees and help shape the next generation of potential postal management.

“My biggest hope is to be the manager that I always needed and to help teach and promote the future of similar managers. Getting back to [having] managers that help other managers and staff.”

The Gardiner Post Office has three employees and 1,800 Post Office Boxes.

Foxx was a stay at home mother before joining the Postal Service. It was thanks to her mail carrier that she joined USPS, “My mail carrier actually mentioned that they were looking for help. USPS was such a sought after organization to be a part of and I was so proud to be a carrier.”

As a rural carrier, she also enjoyed meeting her customers and realized the importance of her job to the community, “I loved the customer service side of being the “post office on wheels”. Many times, the mail carrier was the only person that a lot of elderly would see in a normal day.”

Foxx has five adult children all of whom she says are musically gifted, “[they] have played instruments, wrote songs, and created music their entire lives.”. Her oldest son is an Army veteran, and her oldest daughter has self-published record albums.

In her spare time she likes to travel, hike, watch hockey, and take photographs.

“Yellowstone is my equivalent of Disney to most people, and I am thrilled to live this close to so much beauty and nature.”
