JACKSONVILLE, NC – A tractor trailer carrying mail caught fire today and destroyed some of the mail on board. There were no injuries and due to the quick actions by first responders, some mail was salvaged. The Postal Service will make every effort to salvage additional items and deliver as much of the mail as possible.
Customers who may have been impacted will be notified via letter. The tractor trailer was carrying mail to the following Post Offices:

The Postal Service recommends that customers sign up for Informed Delivery, which is a free feature that allows residential customers to receive emails with images of their letter-sized mail that is expected to arrive soon.
