Postal Service Temporarily Suspends Service in North Carolina Coastal Areas

Additional impacts to operations expected in areas in the path of the storm

WILMINGTON, NC — Due to evacuations of Brunswick, Carteret and New Hanover Counties because of Hurricane Dorian, the following are effective Thursday, September 5, 2019:

  • PME and LIVES suspended guarantee and embargo LIVES
  • Suspending DDU drops
  • Retail and BME operations will be closed until further notice

Postal Service employees in impacted areas are working to secure the mail, postal facilities and equipment in advance of the arrival of Hurricane Dorian.
