Postal Service plans relocation of Lexington Main Post Office

LEXINGTON, NC — The U.S. Postal Service plans to relocate the Lexington Main Post Office, located at 110 N. State St., Lexington, NC 27292, to a yet-to-be-determined location as close as reasonably possible to the former site.

The Postal Service is considering this relocation because the landlord has decided not to renew the lease at the current location.

The Postal Service will post the information required to be presented to the public in the lobby of the Lexington Main Post Office. We are inviting customers to send their written comments on the proposal to the following address:

Attn: Lexington, NC Main Office Relocation
United States Postal Service
P.O. Box 27497
Greensboro, NC 27498-1103

Lexington Main Post Office customers will also be notified about the potential relocation through a postcard in the mail.

After the 30-day comment period, the Postal Service will consider the comments received that identify reasons why the Postal Services tentative decision and proposal is, or is not, the optimal solution for the identified need. Following that consideration, the Postal Service will make a final decision to proceed with, modify, or cancel the proposal. All related materials are posted at the Lexington Main Post Office lobby.

The Postal Service generally receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
