USPS Service Updates in North Carolina
In wake of Hurricane Helene, the U.S. Postal Service continues to reopen postal facilities, resume mail deliveries
ASHEVILLE, NC — The U.S. Postal Service anticipates continued improvement with local recovery efforts, to include the restoration of power, internet connectivity, and improved road conditions. As we move through recovery efforts in North Carolina, there are some facilities unable to provide full retail services and mail delivery due to road closures and current conditions.
Business mailers’ drop shipments are not able to be accepted. Due to internet outages and connectivity issues, some Post Offices can provide cash only transactions.
Two Post Offices remain closed, where some delivery is being attempted:
- Newland Post Office, 24 Elk St., Newland, NC 286578
*Mail delivery in Newland is being attempted where safe to do so.
- Linville Post Office, 4235 Mitchell Ave., Linville, NC 28646
*Group E PO Box service is currently unavailable. Group E PO Box service is provided free, with restrictions, to customers whose physical addresses are not eligible for any form of USPS carrier delivery service.
The following Post Offices are closed, but Mobile Retail Units are deployed on site to continue service:
