In an effort to boost morale, Millie Dunn Veasey and her colleagues developed a new way to track and organize mail so that soldiers serving overseas would have a connection to family and friends.

As a Civil Rights activist, Millie Dunn Veasey organized and participated in many activities to advance the movement, including Dr. Martin Luther Kings’ famous “I Have Dream” speech in Washington, D.C. She also organized peaceful protests, including sit-ins, in and around Raleigh.
