Lynn Boles named 2025 Joseph M. Kaplan Safe Driver of the Year
SANDY RIDGE, NC – Lynn Boles earned the 2025 Joseph M. Kaplan Safe Driver of the Year Award, one of four Postal Service employees to be recognized nationwide.
To qualify for the award, an employee must have safely driven for 15 years or 100,000 miles without a preventable accident. Local management nominates employees based on their impeccable driving record and service to customers.
Boles, a rural carrier, said her longtime safety mindset stems from two words, “Family first.” She has three children and four grandchildren.
“There is no amount of time that can replace you or someone else to a loved one,” Boles said. “In addition to coming home to my family, I also keep my wonderful customers safe because they have become like family to me over my career Sandy Ridge Post Office.”
Boles has 40 years of service with USPS. She makes 580 deliveries on her 77-mile route.
Boles’ safety advice is simple, yet extremely important, “Constantly watch in front of you and behind you.”
Safety is a top priority for the Postal Service. Employees are given regular safety training and frequent safety reminders.
“You have to be extremely attentive on the road because other drivers are more distracted than ever,” said Porscha Moten, NC District Safety Manager. “Lynn is an example to others because she always applies her safety training to keep herself and our customers safe. This award is a significant achievement and well-deserved honor.”
