USPS Invites Media to View Launch of New Dog Paw Program

New Program Addresses Employee Safety and Dog Incidents

What:

From nips and bites to vicious attacks, aggressive dog behavior poses a serious threat to Postal Service employees. To emphasize the enormity of this issue, the Postal Service has reported the number of dog attacks and bites together as the most prominent threat to letter carriers. So far this year, over 5,950 Postal Service employees across the U.S. have been victimized by dogs, already outpacing 2019 incident totals of 5,803.

During this event, the USPS will introduce a new safety initiative designed to help reduce the total number of dog incidents and attacks. The USPS also will provide the media information on dog bite prevention measures it is taking, and tips for responsible pet owners.
