The Postal Service is ready to deliver 16 billion holiday greetings and gifts this holiday season. The Postal Service – the nation’s largest e-commerce deliverer – is projecting about 900 million packages will be delivered.

Background:

For more than 240 years, the U.S. Postal Service has been delivering the holidays for millions of customers. Between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Eve, the Postal Service will handle 16 billion pieces of mail. Nearly 200 million packages are expected to be delivered during the busiest week December 17—23, and about the same the week prior. Over the last five years, USPS package volume has increased by more than 2 billion – from 4 billion to 6.1 billion.
