Postal Hiring Heating-up in Northern New Jersey

Northern NJ — As the spring weather warms-up, so does the hiring forecast for postal jobs in Northern New Jersey. Online applications are currently being accepted through Friday, May 10 at USPS.com/careers for the following openings in the Garden State: City Carrier Assistants, Postal Support Employees, and Mail Handler Assistants. These non-career positions offer excellent benefits, including health, savings, retirement and leave. Postal officials also recommend checking the website frequently as positions are added every week.

At 17.29 per hour, City Carrier Assistants perform the duties of a letter carrier delivering and collecting mail on foot or by vehicle under varying road and weather conditions. A City Carrier Assistant may be required to work any day of the week, including weekends and holidays. This is a non-career post with a possibility of reappointment. It may lead to a career position. Selected applicants must possess a current valid state driver’s license with a safe driving record.

At $17.19 per hour, Postal Support Employees perform a variety of clerical duties in mail processing or retail / customer services to support day to day operations. Duties are physically demanding requiring moderate heavy lifting, carrying, prolonged standing, walking and reaching. Postal Support Employees may be required to sort and distribute incoming / outgoing mail and hale heavy sacks of letter mail or parcels weighing as much as 70 pounds.

At $15.66 per hour, Mail Handler Assistants may load, unload and move bulk mail and perform other duties incidental to the movement or processing of mail. You may work in a large processing center or large post office.
