Newark NJ – The United States Postal Service continues to be one of the largest employers of United States veterans, more than 9,000 here in the Northeast Area and 700 in Northern New Jersey alone. We appreciate the service that our men and women in uniform have provided to our country and are proud to count them within our ranks as we serve the nation’s correspondence and package delivery needs here at home.
For soldiers and sailors stationed abroad the U.S. Mail has always provided a vital link to the home front. This was done through the use of APO and FPO boxes that allowed mail to follow a particular troop or unit without identifying the location of those troops. You can read more about the history of wartime mail at the Smithsonian’s site http://insider.si.edu/2016/11/five-things-probably-didnt-know-military-postal-service/
As our warriors returned home they needed to reenter the workforce and the Postal Service has always been there for them with open arms.
We currently have openings in delivery and mail processing across the State. Interested applicants can visit www.usps.com/careers anytime, day or night, to see a listing of available positions and apply online.
There will be no mail delivery on Monday, May 27, as we pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country, however full mail delivery and Post Office counter service will resume on Tuesday, May 28.
The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
