Safety conscious South River postal employees are to be recognized for years of safe driving. The highlight of the event will be the presentation of the National Safety Council’s Million Mile Award plaques to four South River carriers for operating a motor vehicle on the job for more than one million miles without a preventable accident. Reaching this unique milestone requires 30+ years of service and an unwavering attention to safety. To put it in perspective, you would have to travel around the earth 40.1 times to cover one million miles.

There are 12 carrier routes in South River with a total of 6,137 street deliveries.

The presentation of the National Safety Council’s Million Mile Award reflects the Postal Service’s commitment to safety and pride in its employees who provide excellent service, while safeguarding themselves and the neighborhoods they serve.
