EDISON, NJ — Summer temperatures and postal hiring efforts are heating-up in July around the Garden State. The Postal Service has job openings for City Carrier Assistants and Rural Carrier Associates with hours and locations currently available throughout New Jersey. Job openings are posted weekly at www.usps.com/careers.
At $17.29 per hour, City Carrier Assistants perform the duties of a city letter carrier delivering and collecting mail on foot or by vehicle. A City Carrier Assistant may be required to work any day of the week, including weekends and holidays. Selected applicants must possess a current valid state driver’s license with a safe driving record. Postal Service health and leave benefits are available.
Rural Carrier Associates earn $17.78 per hour. They are responsible for the safe and efficient delivery and collection of the U.S. Mail. Rural Carrier Associates replace regular rural carriers on his or her scheduled day off (primarily Saturday), on vacation, or on other leave. Work hours will vary depending on the office and route to which you are assigned. Rural Carrier Associates also sell stamps, supplies, and money orders.
