Jersey City Postal Worker Being Recognized for 50 Years of Service

DETAILS:

The year is 1969. Richard Nixon is inaugurated President. Apollo 11 Astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin walk on the moon and nearly a half million people gather in Bethel NY for the Woodstock music festival. In addition, William Chandler begins working for the Post Office Department in Jersey City. The Post Office Department would become the United States Postal Service when the Postal Reorganization Act takes effect two years later.

Senior postal managers, union officials, a representative from Jersey City Councilman James Solomon’s office, Mr. Chandler’s family, friends, and coworkers will recognize this remarkable 50 year milestone. Among the many accolades, Mr. Chandler will be presented with several awards, a 50-year service pin, and a congratulatory letter from Postmaster General Megan Brennan.
