A safety recognition ceremony to honor six Hoboken postal employees. The highlight of the 30-minute event is the presentation of the National Safety Council’s (NSC) prestigious Million Mile Award for 30+ years of accident free driving to one Hoboken postal carrier and the honoring of a second carrier with 34 years / 100 million steps of accident free walking on a non-motorized delivery route.

Senior postal officials will recognize six safety conscious Hoboken employees for their on-the-job commitment and dedication to safe work habits.
Letter carrier Alexis Castanon will receive the National Safety Council’s Million Mile Award. The National Safety Council’s Million Mile Award is considered the gold standard and highest honor for professional safe driving performance. Reaching this unique milestone requires 30+ years of service on the road and an unwavering attention to safety. To put this remarkable accomplishment in perspective, you would have to travel around the earth 40.1 times to cover one million miles.
Letter carrier Jorge Alvarez, a lifelong Hoboken resident, has a walking route so he is begin honored with the Hoboken Post Office’s 100 Million Steps Award. He’s walked a route for 34 years without an accident.
The Hoboken employee recognition ceremony reflects the Postal Service’s commitment to safety and pride in its employees who provide excellent service, while safeguarding themselves and the neighborhoods they serve.
The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
