Community Input Sought on Proposal for New Lafayette Post Office

LAFAYETTE, NJ – As part of the Postal Service’s commitment to community input, the public is invited to hear the latest information on the proposal for a new Lafayette NJ Post Office at a March 5 meeting at 7 p.m. at the Lafayette Township Municipal Building, 33 Morris Farm Road, Lafayette NJ 07848. At the meeting, postal officials will provide a comprehensive overview of the proposal to identify a new Post Office location, invite questions, and solicit input.

Written comments about the proposal may also be submitted for 30 days after the March 5 public meeting. Written comments should be addressed to: Kurtis Bullard, Real Estate Specialist, United States Postal Service, P.O. Box 27497, Greensboro NC 27498-1103

Postal operations at the former Lafayette Post Office, 96 State Route 15, were temporarily suspended on August 16, 2019 as a result of the aging condition of the 1,118 sq. ft. leased facility. There was no effect on rural mail delivery to street addresses. The 144 Lafayette Post Office Box customers are picking-up their mail at the nearby Augusta Post Office.

In addition to press releases to the media, public announcements of the proposal and information on submitting written comments are posted at the Augusta Post Office.

Customers with questions or comments about their mail service can call toll-free 1-800-ASK-USPS (1-800-275-8777) or send an e-mail to the Postal Service by clicking on Contact Us on the bottom of the USPS.com homepage and following the prompts.
