Emergency Suspension for Monticello, NM, Post Office

No injuries. Building closed until further notice.

Monticello, NM – The U.S. Postal Service has implemented an emergency suspension of the Monticello, NM, Post Office effective immediately.

As a result of flooding due to heavy rain, the Postal Service is providing the following arrangements for customers served by the Monticello Post Office located at 355 Calle Del Norte Rd, Monticello, NM 87939.

Beginning today, August 3, 2022, and continuing until further notice, all retail and P.O. Box operations at Monticello will be conducted at the Truth or Consequences, NM, Post Office located at 1507 N Date St, Truth or Consequences, NM 87901.  The Truth or Consequences Post Office is open Mon-Fri: 8:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.

Customers from Monticello who are picking up P.O. Box mail at Truth or Consequences must do so at the retail counter during normal business hours.  A valid picture ID is required to pick up P.O. Box mail.

This is an emergency suspension of this office, not a permanent closure. Additional details will be provided as they become available regarding the reopening of this office.

Customers are reminded that the Post Office is always open, 24/7 including holidays, at www.usps.com. Using usps.com, customers can look up a ZIP Code, request free Priority Mail Flat Rate packaging, hold their mail, set up Premium Forwarding Service, and even print a mailing label and pay for postage using Click-N-Ship.

The Postal Service generally receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products, and services to fund its operations.
