Background:

Ronda Smith will be officially installed as the Roswell Postmaster. 

The public is invited to attend this ceremonial event. 

Ronda Smith began her career with the United States Postal Service in January of 2005 at the Cloudcroft, NM  Post Office as a part-time flexible (PTF) clerk while working on her bachelor’s degree in Business from Eastern New Mexico University.   A short time after being hired, she was asked to train as a supervisor by the Alamogordo Postmaster.  In September of 2005, Smith was promoted to Supervisor, Customer Service, in Alamogordo.   While working as supervisor, she joined a route inspection team as a city route inspector for Albuquerque and Santa Fe offices.  Smith has held leadership positions at Albuquerque Airport Station, Steve Schiff Station, Santa Fe Main, Santa Fe Coronado Station, Roswell, and Artesia. She also served as Officer-in-Charge in Holloman, Tularosa, and Lovington.  In 2014, Smith was selected as Postmaster of Lovington.  In 2016, she became the Postmaster of Carlsbad where she has served the past 6 1/2 years prior her recent promotion as Postmaster of Roswell.

As Roswell Postmaster, Smith oversees three postal facilities, one contract station, 86 postal employees and 2 Highway Contract routes with a total of 28,452 possible deliveries and a daily distribution of mail to 5,473 PO Boxes deliveries in two locations. 

Ronda Smith has dedicated over 17 years to the United States Postal Service.  Originally from Roswell, she plans to complete her postal career at the Roswell post office. She looks forward to serving her hometown, family, friends, and community.  Smith’s daughter, Amber Kincaid, and her husband, Dwight, have two children: Tatum and Wesley. Her son, Casey Sopher and his wife, Angela, have three children: Haley, Mariah, and Leland.  All reside in the Roswell area.  In her spare time, Smith enjoys spending time with her family, traveling and antique shopping.

The Postal Service generally receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products, and services to fund its operations.
