Manages Postal Service to Community
Elephant Butte, NM – Fern M. Elston was recently named the Ninth Postmaster of the Elephant Butte Post Office.
Fern began her postal career in 2008 as a Rural Carrier. She became a career employee in 2017 and took supervisory and managerial positions soon after. She also served as a Rural Carrier Academy instructor for two years in Albuquerque.
Fern is also a Navy veteran having served as an Aviation Adminstrationman for four years. She enjoys kayaking, reading, writing, and photography in her spare time.
“Elephant Butte is a community of kind souls. On my first week as Officer in Charge, I felt at home. There are many veterans in this community, and I am thankful for their service,” Fern said. “This post office is a model of positive service interactions, and a one-stop greeting place for everyone. I am proud to be a part of this cohesion and grateful to be serving this community in my capacity.”
The office serves the community with more than 1,300 P.O. Boxes. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7:30 am – 4:00 pm; Closed Saturday and Sunday.
