El Prado, NM – Scott Mizen was recently named the 7th Postmaster of the El Prado Post Office, serving the community for more than 89 years.
He began his career 28 years ago as a carrier in Chandler, Arizona and was promoted to supervisor customer service at the Chandler Anderson Springs Post Office. Mizen also served as postmaster in Chandler, Arizona. Prior to working for the Postal Service, he served aboard submarines in the U.S. Navy for eight years.
As postmaster, Mizen oversees 4 employees, approximately 834 mail deliveries, 1763 Post Office Boxes (PO Boxes), and a retail unit.
Three years ago, the Postal Service implemented the “Delivering for America” (DFA) 10-year plan to achieve financial sustainability and service excellence. Mizen states he is doing his part by “making sure our customers are happy, and all our packages are getting the last mile scans and all mail is delivered on time”.
When not on duty, Mizen enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife and their 14 grandchildren who all live in Arizona. He also enjoys golf.
