Las Vegas Package Sorting Annex Shows Package Processing During USPS Busiest Week

What:

The Las Vegas Package Support Annex will pull back the curtain for a look into package processing during the busiest week of the season and how technology and employees combine to sort packages during the holidays.

Postal employees will also share some essential information on the holiday mailing season, including shipping deadlines, packaging tips, and how to ship conveniently.

Background:

The Postal Service plans months ahead for the holiday season. It is a busy and rewarding time for Las Vegas area postal employees as they work around the clock for their customers to ensure all holiday cards and packages are processed and delivered on-time.

Since Thanksgiving, USPS has accepted more than 7.4 billion pieces of mail and packages nationwide.

If you're shipping holiday cards and gifts, the earlier you send, the better; don’t delay – Ship it Early!

Holiday Tips

  • Be sure to pick up delivered mail and packages as soon as possible. Don’t leave mail overnight
  • If going out of town, place your mail on hold. www.usps.com/manage/hold-mail.htm.
  • Manage your mail and packages with Informed Delivery. www.informeddelivery.com
  • Letter carriers are delivering early in the morning and after dark. Please keep a light on for safety.
  • Please keep paths to your mail box clear of obstacles, snow, and ice.
  • Dog Safety. When a letter carrier comes to your home, keep dogs:
    • Inside the house or behind a fence;
    • Away from the door or in another room when answering;
    • On a leash.

The information below covers domestic, international and military shipping destinations to allow for the timely delivery of cards, letters and packages by Dec. 25th.

Items Sent to Addresses in the Contiguous United States (Lower 48 States):

  • First-Class Mail service: Dec. 18
  • Priority Mail service: Dec. 19
  • Priority Mail Express service: Dec. 21

Items Sent to Addresses in Alaska and Hawaii:

  • USPS Ground Advantage service: Dec. 16
  • First-Class Mail service: Dec. 18
  • Priority Mail service: Dec. 19
  • Priority Mail Express service: Dec. 20
