Background:
Carson City, Nevada’s historic capital, proudly hosts the state’s official birthday celebration—Nevada Day—each year with vibrant parades, spirited festivities, and a nod to its frontier heritage. In honor of the 2025 celebration, Carson City Postmaster Daniel Adams invited the community to participate in a special art contest launched on April 22. Local artists were encouraged to submit original designs for a commemorative pictorial postmark reflecting the “Wild Wild West” parade theme or the enduring spirit of Nevada. By the May 31 deadline, dozens of creative entries poured in. The winning design came from a talented senior at Carson City High School, who crafted the postmark in her graphic design class—leaving a lasting mark on this year’s celebration.
