Mt Vision NY — Postal officials report that the Mount Vision Post Office, located at 2363 State Highway 205, will close for repairs starting Friday, February 22.

Customers will be directed to the Laurens Post Office, located at 55 Brooks St in Laurens. 

The transfer of mail, including mail for the office’s 42 post office boxes, will take place approximately mid-morning Friday, according to postal officials. Post office box customers who visit later in the morning will be directed to Laurens.

There will be no change to regular mail delivery on Friday for the 456 customers served by the Mount Vision rural route.  Oversized or signature required items will be available in the Laurens Post Office during the repair period.  

Postal officials note that Mount Vision post office box customers should be prepared to show identification for handout of mail service. 

Retail hours at the Laurens postal facility are 8 am through noon weekdays.  The post office is open from 7:45 am to 11 am on Saturdays.

Officials indicate the office is being closed to address safety and sanitation issues.  There is no timetable for a return to the Mount Vision Post Office at this time.
