Aliya Sutton Is New Postmaster of Elmsford NY

ELMSFORD, NY- On Friday afternoon, February 22, Aliya Sutton followed a tradition of public service when she was sworn in as Postmaster of Elmsford, NY.  U.S. Postal Service Westchester District Manager Elvin Mercado administered the oath of office to Postmaster Sutton at a special ceremony at the Elmsford Post Office, 2 East Main Street.  

Postmaster Sutton leads a dedicated group of 18 employees engaged in providing the residents and businesses in Elmsford with the best possible mail delivery and retail customer experiences.

The Elmsford postal team delivers 17,000 pieces of mail on an average business day to a population of more than 4,600 residents. Retail customer service business hours at the Elmsford Post Office are 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. Mon. – Fri., and 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Sat. 

Postmaster Sutton holds a bachelor’s degree from City College of New York and began her postal career in 2013 as a City Carrier Assistant at the Scarsdale NY Post Office.

Prior to her selection as Postmaster of Elmsford, Sutton worked as Officer-in-Charge at the Harrison Post Office, Postmaster of Ardsley, Team Leader of the Westchester Carrier Route Inspection Team, Customer Service Supervisor at the Larchmont Post Office, Acting Supervisor at the Croton on Hudson and Katonah Post Offices, and City Carrier in New Rochelle.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund operations.
