Postal Officials Announce Temporary Service Change for Five Borough Bike Tour

Neighborhood Collection Boxes Receive Temporary Seal / Removal

STATEN ISLAND – In the interest of safety and security, postal officials will seal the Postal Service’s collection boxes along the parade route for the Five Borough Bike Tour taking place Sunday, May 5 on Staten Island. 

The familiar blue collection boxes will be sealed, and in some cases removed, prior to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 4. All impacted collection boxes will be reopened on Monday morning, May 6.

Postal officials advise local customers to make alternative plans to mail outgoing items at impacted locations during this time period (see below). 

Collection Boxes for U.S. Mail impacted in these areas:

  • Any Collection Boxes within the confines of Fort Wadsworth
  • Both Sides of Bay Street - between Fort Wadsworth and Hylan Boulevard
  • Both Sides of Hylan Boulevard – between Bay Street and Edgewater Street
  • Both Sides of Edgewater Street – between Hylan Boulevard and Front Street
  • Both Sides of Front Street – between Edgewater Street and Hannah Street
  • Both Sides of Hannah Street – between Front Street and Bay Street
  • Both Sides of Bay Street – between Hannah Street and Richmond Terrace
  • Any Collection Boxes within the confines of the Staten Island Ferry Terminal
