Postal Officials Announce Temporary Service Change for Annual Dance Parade / Dancefest

Neighborhood Collection Boxes Receive Temporary Seal / Removal

New York, NY – In the interest of safety and security, postal officials will seal the Postal Service’s collection boxes for the Annual Dance Parade/Dancefest taking place Saturday, May 18 in Manhattan. 

The familiar blue collection boxes will be sealed, and in some cases removed prior to 2 p.m. on Friday, May 17. All impacted collection boxes will be reopened on Monday morning, May 20.

Postal officials advise local customers to make alternative plans to mail outgoing items at impacted locations during this time period (see below). 

Collection Boxes for U.S. Mail impacted in these areas:

  1. Both sides of 22nd Street – between Fifth Avenue and Park Avenue
  2. Both sides of 21st Street – between Fifth Avenue and Park Avenue
  3. Both sides of Broadway – between 23rd Street and Union Square West
  4. Both sides of Union Square West – between Broadway and University Place
  5. Both sides of University Place – between Union Square West and Eighth Street
  6. Both sides of Eighth Street – between University Place and St. Marks Place
  7. Both sides of St. Marks Place – between Eighth Street and Avenue A
For additional locations to deposit mail, customers are directed to usps.com and use Quick Tools to Find Locations. Under Locations, use the dropdown for collection boxes or Post Offices to find alternate locations for secure mail deposits in the immediate area.
