Get Passports While Kids Off School

Apply for your passport at one of these Western NY Post Offices

WESTERN NY – Summer is the perfect time for families to apply for passports. Children are out of school and extra passport acceptance hours make it convenient for those needing travel documentation.  

Here are the Post Offices of Western NY hosting passport events with extra appointment times and additional staff to assist in August.

As a note, the Western NY District has 115 Post Offices that process passport applications during regular business hours. To find the location and hours of a passport acceptance Post Office near you, go to usps.com - quick tools – find USPS locations – search on “passports.”

Travelers need to bring with them the following items:

  • A completed DS-11, Application for a U.S. Passport form, which can be found at the   Department of State website at https://travel.state.gov/content/passports/en/passports.html. Do not sign the form.
  • Proof of U.S. citizenship.
  • Proof of identity (valid driver’s license, government employee ID, military ID).
  • Photocopies of U.S. citizenship and identification documents (these will be sent with the application, but bring originals for proof documentation).
  • Appropriate payment. Acceptable forms of payment can be found on the Department of State website. (Please note that neither debit nor credit cards are acceptable forms of payment by the Department of State).
  • Appropriate passport photo, if passport photo services are not available at the selected Post Office location.
