NW Rochester P&DC Closed Due to Package Spill

ROCHESTER — Out of an abundance of caution, the United States Postal Service’s NW Rochester Processing and Distribution Center (P&DC), 1700 Lyell Avenue, Rochester, has been closed temporarily due to an elevated reading of mercury from a package that leaked inside the facility.

Contractors will be conducting further testing and will also be cleaning the facility.

The safety and security of employees and the mailstream is the top priority of the Postal Service. The facility is not used by customers.

We will continue to provide updates when we have updated information.

The Postal Service does not receive tax dollars for operating expenses; it relies entirely on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
