Officials Look to Deliver More City Carrier Assistants, Tractor Trailer Operators in Capital Region
Albany NY – In a job-strong economy, short-duration jobs are not uncommon, according to figures from the Employee Tenure Report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. That report highlights that jobs the median tenure for jobs held by workers ages 25 to 34 is 2.8 years. Federal employment enjoys the longest median tenure, at more than 8 years, and careers that span decades are not uncommon for postal employees, officials note.
Workers ready for a long-term change are those that postal officials hope to address in a hands-on hiring event scheduled for Wednesday, October 23. The topic is all about current hiring needs by the Postal Service in the Capital Region
Post offices in the immediate area are in particular need of city carrier assistants – a gateway position to permanent city carrier posts – and tractor trailer operators. But with more than 2,400 different job types available inside the Postal Service, officials note that a career path as a postal employee can run many different courses.
All hiring in the Postal Service begins with an on-line application at the Postal Service website, www.usps.com/careers. Attendees on Wednesday will enjoy one-on-one support in completing an application.
Programming runs from noon until 6 pm on Wednesday at the Albany Processing and Distribution Center, at 30 Karner Road in Colonie.
