Central New York – If the ho-ho-holidays mean you need extra time to go-go-go to the Post Office, several local post offices in the region are on your good list.
Find extra Saturday retail hours starting this weekend, November 30, for four Saturdays through December 21:
Two offices will provide extra hours for package pickups on four Sundays in December, starting December, including:
Auburn Post Office, 1 James Street, from 8 am to 2 pm
Bayberry Station, 7608 Oswego Road in Liverpool, from 10 am to 2 pm
Syracuse shippers and shoppers have additional opportunities to drop by a post office for the next four weekends to enjoy extra hours for retail services, including:
Dewitt Branch (6581 Kinne Road) and Onondaga Branch (4912 W Seneca Turnpike) will stay open until 4 pm on those Saturdays,
Teall Station (226 Teall Avenue), Franklin Square Station (401 West Division Street) and Solvay Branch (1801 Milton Avenue) will have full-service window operations until 5 pm.
Four Sundays of extra package pickups starting Sunday, December 1 will also be available at Teall Station (9 am to 2 pm) and Franklin Square (10 am to 2 pm).
Of course the ultimate holiday convenience is the Postal Service’s USPS.com website. Consumers can skip the trip to the Post Office by using the Click-N-Ship feature and other online services at USPS.com to order free Priority Mail boxes, purchase holiday stamps, print shipping labels for packages with postage, and request free next-day Package Pickup.
As post offices resume full operations on Friday following the Thanksgiving federal holiday, the Postal Service begins to deliver what is expected to be more than 800 million packages between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day.
Customer traffic is expected to increase beginning December 9, while the week of December 16 is expected to be the busiest time for mailing, shipping and delivery. Additionally, the Postal Service predicts that nearly 2.5 billion pieces of First-Class Mail, including greeting cards, will be processed and delivered the week of December 16.
