NEW YORK, NY – The US Postal Service will make every reasonable effort to provide retail and delivery service to customers when it is safe to do so. As a result of the recent winter storm, local postal services may be impacted, but will return to normal when circumstances permit.
To assist in the mission of safe and timely delivery to customers, the public can help in keeping walkways, sidewalks, and approaches to mailboxes clear from snow and ice. Mounds of snow and patches of ice in front of mailboxes create havoc for carriers trying to safely deliver the mail.
Residents should maintain a clear path to their mailbox — including steps, porches, walkways and street approach — to help maintain consistent delivery service. Customers receiving curbside delivery from employee vehicles should also ensure snow plowed against mailboxes is cleared.
Customers with questions about their mail service can call the USPS Customer Care Center at 1-800-ASK-USPS (1-800-275-8777).
