The United States Postal Service will join the U.S. Military Academy in commemorating
the West Point Class of 2025 Reception Day with a special pictorial postmark.  This
keepsake postmark, also known as a pictorial cancellation, will be offered at the West
Point Post Office.

Sunday June 27, 2021 – mail in only
Monday June 28, 2021 - 8:30 am to 5:00 pm

Background:

Postmaster Kristina Tamer announced that a new tradition of a special pictorial postmark will be offered commemorating the Reception Day of the West Point Class of 2025.  “This newly added unique Reception Day cancellation stamp will allow students (cadets) and parents to participate in making a souvenir in honor of their reception into the West Point Academy, which is an extraordinary honor.  With this pictorial cancellation, students could send letters to family members announcing their reception and sharing in the joy,” the postmaster said.  Ms. Tamer also mentioned that this letter could give the families an opportunity to reply back sending words of encouragement, as the first year tends to be the hardest. 

The postmark was designed by Rebecca Ufford and bears the West Point motto Duty, Honor, Country along with USMA Class of 2025.

The pictorial postmark will be available at the West Point Post Office or by mail order request through July 28th.  Customers who are unable to get to the West Point Post Office, but wish to obtain a postmark, may submit a mail order request as follows:  Affix stamps to an envelope or postcard, address the envelopes or postcards to themselves or others, insert a card of postcard thickness in envelopes for sturdiness, and tuck in the flap. Place the envelopes or postcards into a larger sealed envelope, affix the proper postage and address to:

Mail in requests must specify the date of cancellation requested on the top line of the address block.

After applying the pictorial postmark, the Postal Service returns the items (with or without addresses) under addressed protective cover.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
