USPS Prepares for the New York City 9/11 Memorial Foundation 5k Run/Walk

NYC Collection Boxes in the Area Receive Temporary Seal / Removal

NEW YORK, NY — In the interest of safety and security, postal officials will temporarily seal or remove United States Postal Service collection boxes on Saturday, April 23, in New York City.

The familiar blue collection boxes will be inaccessible Saturday, April 23.  

Impacted collection boxes will be reopened on Monday, April 25.

US Mail Collection Boxes impacted at the following locations:

(Please note this is a tentative list that is subject to change as additional information is obtained from the NYPD and other law enforcement sources.)

  • Both sides of Greenwich Street between Battery Place and Morris Street.
  • Both sides of Trinity Place between Morris Street and Edgar Street.
  • Both sides of Greenwich Street between Edgar Street and Cortlandt Street.
  • Any/ All boxes at Brookfield Place (North Cove Marina) and the Vicinity of 230 Vesey Street (Formation Area).
