New leader delivers for America and for 2.7 million Brooklynites
What:
Continuing a 219-year-old tradition, the United States Postal Service will officially swear in a new Postmaster with executive responsibility for the daily delivery of mail and packages for the 2.7 million people of Brooklyn.

Background:
Brooklyn swore in its first Postmaster in 1803 and continues that tradition with its 48th inductee, Postmaster John Tortorice. As a Gulf War Veteran, Postmaster Tortorice will take his oath of office at the Fort Hamilton Army Base.
Tortorice began serving as the officer-in-charge in April 2021. His oversight of Brooklyn includes the Main Post Office, 36 postal stations, and 22 retail units throughout the borough. Mr. Tortorice directs nearly 4,400 postal employees who serve approximately 2.7 million residents across Brooklyn’s 70.8 square miles.
Tortorice is a Navy Veteran with 30 years of dedicated postal experience. He is charged with securing the future of the Postal Service through his execution of the Delivering for America 10-year plan.
