Postal Customer Councils to Host “Augmented Reality in Direct Mail” Event

ALBANY, NY — The Postal Service is leading the evolution of direct mail through digital technologies, and Postal Customers Councils (PCCs) are offering unique ways for customers to learn about mailing innovation.

Atlantic Area Postal Customer Councils from across North Carolina and New York are hosting an event on April 12 to inform mailers about augmented reality in direct mail.

“Digital technologies are revolutionizing the way businesses can engage customers through direct mail,” said Albany Postmaster Lawrence Elliott, who is also the Co-Chair of the Capital Region Postal Customer Council (CRPCC). “These types of events are designed to help mailers learn about the evolving technologies and techniques in mailing.”

Postal Customer Councils
Postal Customer Councils, created in 1961, provide a unique opportunity for any business to meet with top level managers of the Postal Service to obtain information, share ideas, address issues, grow their business and network with other business colleagues.

“PCCs are the bridge between mailers and the Postal Service,” Elliott said. “They have a proven track record of success helping businesses grow through innovation in mailing.”

Delivering for America
The Postal Service surpassed a milestone recently, entering the third year of Delivering For America, the Postal Service’s 10-year plan to achieve financial sustainability and service excellence, including new offerings for small business customers such as USPS Connect.

The implementation of 249 high-speed package sorting machines nationwide has increased the speed and consistency of package processing through the postal network. The most recent data shows average time for the Postal Service to deliver a mailpiece or package across the nation remained at just 2.5 days.

“The Postal Service plays a vital role in our customers’ success,” said Felicia Jackson, Customer Relations Director and Atlantic Area AIM postal co-chair. “Our Delivering for America plan the continues to implement changes and improvements to ensure the Postal Service evolves and thrives in the changing American economy.”

Postal Service AIM Meeting
Last month, the Postal Service’s Atlantic Area and Southern Areas sponsored the Areas Inspiring Mail event to discuss the latest enhancements to postal products and services to help companies grow their business. These regional areas cover all states on the U.S. Eastern Coast and from Florida to Texas.
