Post Offices Are Closed Monday, Oct. 9 but Hiring Continues Across Long Island

Applicants Can Visit the USPS Hiring Website to Get Started

NASSAU, NY — Post Offices across the state will be closed on Monday, October 9, in honor of the federal holiday Columbus Day and the local celebration of Indigenous Peoples Day. Retail services will be unavailable and there will be no street delivery of mail on October 9. Full retail and delivery services will resume on Tuesday, October 10.

In addition, the following Post Offices are hosting October job fairs to assist in the process:

  • Wednesday, Oct. 11 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Elmont Post Office, 600 Franklin Ave., Garden City, NY 11530
  • Wednesday, Oct. 11 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Garden City Post Office, 600 Franklin Ave., Garden City, NY 11530
  • Friday, Oct. 13 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Bethpage Post Office, 339 Hicksville Rd., Bethpage, NY 11714

These job fairs are part of the U.S. Postal Service’s 10-year plan, “Delivering for America” to build a more stable and empowered workforce.

  Applicants must be 18 years of age and be able to pass drug screening and a criminal background investigation.
