Postal Service to Host December Job Fairs in Nassau and Queens

NEW YORK — Jobseekers looking for stable and meaningful work can apply to be a city carrier assistant this holiday season.

Applicants who are interested in hearing about the benefits and opportunities when joining the Postal Service can visit local hiring fairs on Dec. 7 and 8 from 10 a.m.-. 2 p.m.

The following Post Offices are hosting these two-day job fairs for applicants to get the process started:

Hempstead Post Office
200 Fulton Ave., Hempstead, NY 11550

Rochdale Village Post Office
165100 Baisley Blvd., Queens, NY 11434

Flushing Main Post Office
4165 Main St., Queens, NY 11355

Jobs available include:

City Carrier Assistant: $19.33 per hour paid bi-weekly.
Delivers and collects mail on foot or by vehicle under varying road and weather conditions in a prescribed area; maintains professional and effective public relations with customers and others, requiring a general familiarity with postal laws, regulations, products and procedures commonly used, and geography of the area.

These job fairs are part of the U.S. Postal Service’s 10-year plan, “Delivering for America” to build a more stable and empowered workforce.

Applicants must be 18 years of age, pass a drug screening test, have a valid driver’s license for at least two years and clear a criminal background investigation.
