USPS Prepares for the New York City Marathon

NYC Collection Boxes in the Area Receive Temporary Seal / Removal

NEW YORK – In the interest of safety and security, postal officials will temporarily seal or remove Postal Service collection boxes on Saturday, November 2, in New York City.

The familiar blue collection boxes will be inaccessible until reopened on Monday, November 4.

US Mail Collection Boxes impacted at the following locations:

MANHATTAN:

  • Both sides of East 59th Street between FDR Drive and 1st Ave
  • Both sides of East 60th Street between FDR Drive and 1st Ave
  • Both sides of 1st Ave to the Willis Ave Bridge
  • Both sides of 5th Ave from the Madison Ave Bridge to East 90th St.
  • Both sides of East Drive to East 60th Street
  • Both sides of East 59th St. to Columbus Circle
  • Any/All collection boxes around Columbus Circle
  • Both sides of West Drive to West 67th Street
  • Both sides of Central Park West from West 59th Street to West 81st Street 
  • Both sides of Central Park South between 5th Ave and 8th Ave
  • Both sides of 7th Ave between West 58th Street to West 59th Street
  • Both sides of 6th Ave between West 58th Street and West 59th Street

BRONX:

  • East 138th Street and Alexander Ave.

BROOKLYN:

  • Both sides of 92nd Street to 4th Ave
  • Both sides of 4th Ave to Flatbush Ave
  • Both sides of 7th Ave at 79th Street exit to 74th Street
  • Both sides of 74th Street to 6th Ave
  • Both sides of 6th Ave to Bay Ridge Parkway
  • Both sides of Bay Ridge Parkway to 4th Ave
  • Both sides of Gatling Place from the BQE exit to 92nd Street

  • Both sides of 44th Drive to Crescent Street
  • Both sides of Crescent Street to Queens Plaza South
  • Both sides of Queens Plaza South to the Ed Koch Bridge
