What:
The U.S. Postal Service is hosting a meet-and-greet event and official oath of office ceremony with Merrick Postmaster Renee Bright on June 10 at the Merrick Post Office.
On Tuesday, June 10, Renee Bright will repeat the oath of office sworn by thousands of postmasters in communities large and small across the nation.
The event will also encompass a ‘Grow Your Business Day’ with USPS Lead Business Development Specialist Alan Habert and a ‘Dog Bite Prevention’ information table with USPS Safety Specialist Mike Martinez.
The event will serve as an opportunity for community members to connect with local Postal Service leadership and strengthen ties with the organization while learning how to expand business in Merrick and how to keep everyone safe.
A special pictorial postmark will be available to commemorate the day.

Background:
Postmaster Renee Bright started her 27-year career with the Postal Service in 1998 as a mail processor in Queens, NY and quickly rose up in management. Bright has since served as manager of various Post Offices in Queens and Brooklyn.
Merrick Post Office serves 12,564 delivery points which are covered by 38 individual letter carrier routes and 40 trucks. Merrick Post office has three retail windows. Bright oversees 80 employees.
Bright has been in Merrick less than a year but has already made significant improvements in the facility and employee engagement.
“Through my years of service, I have managed at ISC-JFK, Brooklyn Processing & Distribution Center, Flushing and Jamaica Customer Service and acted as the postmaster of Far Rockaway Main Post Office,” said Bright.
“Managing, I have gained the experience and knowledge in how to run this organization. In every position, I always communicate, listen, set expectations and follow up.
“I currently motivate and guide 80 employees every day. I am committed to being available to my team and providing the tools needed for them to succeed. I inspire and lead a team that is dedicated to customer satisfaction,” added Bright.
Her passion is helping others and dreams of opening a restaurant that would assist unsheltered residents to get a free meal.
