Jamaica, NY — Retail Post Offices are closed on Tuesday, Nov. 11 in honor of Veterans Day but hiring continues across the nation to fill immediate openings.

Areas with immediate city carrier assistant (CCA) openings in the borough of Queens are:

  • Far Rockaway, NY
  • Flushing, NY
  • Jamaica, NY

The Postal Service values veterans’ leadership and reliability and offers veterans preference in hiring.

The Postal Service employs nearly 70,000 military veterans, making it one of the largest veteran employers in the country.

To apply, veterans should search for openings on the USPS Careers website and apply online, making sure to clearly state their claim for veterans' preference on the application.

Veterans must submit required documents like their DD-214 (Member 4 Copy), or other official documentation from a branch of the Armed Forces or the Department of Veterans Affairs showing dates of service and type of discharge.
