Who Wants to Help Santa?!

The U.S. Postal Service can show you how with Operation Santa

USPS Operation Santa

OHIO—Santa needs your help! Customers nationwide have begun adopting letters to Santa online via USPSOperationSanta.com. We still have many more letters that need an adopter and the deadline is Saturday December 21, 2019!

While the letters are adopted online, the adopter must go to a Post Office that offers a “Label Broker” as an on-site service to send the gift. Adopters can find qualifying Label Broker Post Offices by visiting the Post Office Locator usps.com/locator.

Here is how it works:

Children wrote letters to Santa and were sent to 123 Elf Road, North Pole 88888. Letters are blinded for any identifying information and uploaded to USPSOperationSanta.com. The deadline to submit a letter was December 14, and letters from all around the country are available on the website.

The public can go to the website and complete a short registration and identity verification. Customers can browse through letters and adopt as many as they like and even have the option to adopt a family! Once a letter has been adopted, the customer will receive a QR code they take to a qualifying Label Broker Post Office. They can find these offices by visiting usps.com/locator.

Caring members of the public and postal community shop, wrap and ship the package through the Postal Service by December 21, 2019.Happy children receive their packages from Santa and the magic of the season continues!

USPS Operation Santa History

The Postal Service began receiving letters to Santa Claus more than 100 years ago; however, it was in 1912 when Postmaster General Frank Hitchcock authorized local postmasters to allow postal employees and citizens to respond to the letters — this became known as Operation Santa.

The complete history can be found online https://about.usps.com/holidaynews/

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
