CINCINNATI, OH — The U.S. Postal Service will be offering a special postmark cancelation to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Pharmacy Stamp, that was issued in 1972 in Cincinnati. The special postmark cancelation is available at the Cincinnati Main Post Office, 1623 Dalton Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45234, until January 9, 2023. Customers may bring envelopes or postcards to have postmarked.
As a community service, the Postal Service offers special postmarks to commemorate local events celebrated in communities throughout the nation. People attending these local events may obtain the postmark in person to celebrate the original stamp that was issued.
Those who cannot attend the event but wish to obtain the postmark may submit a mail order request. Thespecial postmarks are available only for the dates indicated, and requests must be postmarked no later than 30 days following the requested postmark date, the date was extended for this event. All requests must include a stamped envelope or postcard bearing at least the minimum First-Class Mail postage. Items submitted for postmark may not include postage issued after theend date of the postmark offering. Such items will be returned unserviced.
Customers wishing to obtain a postmark/cancelation must affix stamps to any envelope or postcard of their choice, address the envelope or postcard to themselves or others, insert a card of postcard thickness in envelopes for sturdiness, and tuck in the flap. Place the envelope or postcard in a larger envelope and address it to: Lynn Long, Customer Relations, Cincinnati Post Office, 1623 Dalton Ave,Ste 104A, Cincinnati, OH 45234-9998.
Customers can also send stamped envelopes and postcards without addresses for postmark, as long as they supply a larger envelope with adequate postage and their return address. After applying the postmark, the Postal Service returns the items (with or without addresses) under addressed protective cover.
The Postal Service generally receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products, and services to fund its operations.
