USPS Offering Commemorative Postmark to Celebrate the Total Solar Eclipse

Solar Eclipse Postmark

SYCAMORE, OH — The U.S. Postal Service will be offering a commemorative postmark to celebrate the Total Solar Eclipse that expected to take place April 8, 2024. The postmark will be available at the Sycamore Post Office, 201 South Sycamore Ave, Sycamore, Ohio 44882, from April 8, 2024 until May 7, 2024. Customers may bring envelopes or postcards to have postmarked.

As a community service, the Postal Service offers special postmarks to commemorate local events celebrated in communities throughout the nation. People attending these local events may obtain the postmark in person to celebrate the original stamp that was issued.

Those who cannot attend the event but wish to obtain the postmark may submit a mail order request. Customers must affix a First-Class postage stamp to any envelope or postcard of their choice, address the envelope or postcard to themselves or others, insert a card of postcard thickness in envelopes for sturdiness, and tuck in the flap. Place the envelope or postcard in a larger envelope and address it to: Sycamore Postmaster, 201 South Sycamore Ave, Sycamore, Ohio 44882.

Customers can also send stamped envelopes and postcards without addresses for postmark, as long as they supply a larger envelope with adequate postage and their return address. After applying the postmark, the Postal Service returns the items (with or without addresses) under addressed protective cover.
